Andre Turenne is a senior vice president of D. E. Shaw & Co., L.P. and an executive of the D. E. Shaw group's venture capital unit. The venture capital group pursues promising opportunities in technology-related companies across all stages of development, from seed through expansion capital. Mr. Turenne has more than 25 years of operating, technical, and venture investment experience in the technology sector. Prior to joining the D. E. Shaw group in 2006, Mr. Turenne was a managing director of NeoCarta Ventures, Inc., a leading venture capital investment firm.
Before beginning his more than ten years of venture capital investing experience, Mr. Turenne also spent five years at Intel Corporation in various technical, marketing, and sales management roles. Prior to working at Intel, Mr. Turenne spent six years in various engineering and engineering management positions at Photocircuits Corporation, a leading producer of printed circuit boards.
Mr. Turenne currently serves on the board of directors of Altierre Corp., eMotive Communications, Inc., Meru Networks, PanTerra Networks, Inc., PGP Corporation, Reactrix Inc. and Winery Exchange, Inc.
Mr. Turenne received his B.S. in engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and his M.B.A. from Northeastern University, where he was recognized as valedictorian of his class.
Ed Esber has over thirty years experience in the computer industry working for IBM, Texas Instruments and as CEO of Ashton Tate and COO of Creative Labs. He was either a founder, executive or board member of several startups including VisiCorp, Creative Insights, SoloPoint, Motion Computing, Blue Roads Software, Poqet Computer and Pocket.com. As a PC industry pioneer, he pioneered the marketing and distribution of retail, packaged software and developed the marketing strategies for two of the world’s best selling PC software packages of the 1980’s. He marketed the first spreadsheet, the first office suite and the first Wintel graphical user interface. After pioneering work in personal computer software, he did seminal work on the integration of computers and multimedia at Creative Labs, the integration of computers, toys and learning at Creative Insights, the integration of computers, communication and telephony at SoloPoint, the mobilization of email and internet access at Pocket.com and personal computer mobility first at Poqet Computer and then at Motion Computing, a tablet-PC company.
He has served on the board of directors of over twenty-five public, private and non-profit boards. He currently serves on the board of directors of Quantum Corp, Blue Roads Software, Legacy J Software and Case Western Reserve University.
His education includes a B.S. Computer Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, a M.S. Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Arthur G. Chang brings over 15 years of hi-tech executive experience to PanTerra Networks. Mr. Chang, a Silicon Valley serial entrepreneur, has contributed at the senior executive level to several companies in the valley that have experienced growth and success. Prior to PanTerra Networks, Mr. Chang was the CEO of Cradle Technologies, a multi-core multimedia DSP company. Prior to Cradle, Mr. Chang was CEO of SoloPoint Communications, a provider of telecommunications equipment to the RBOCs and Telcos. Mr. Chang grew the company over several years culminating in an IPO event. Prior to SoloPoint, Mr. Chang held various executive management positions with companies in the storage, server and remote access market places. Mr. Chang started his career at Bell Laboratories in Naperville, IL.
Throughout his career, Mr. Chang has worked closely with several silicon valley venture capitalists as a consultant and analyst. Mr. Chang's expertise is in helping companies recruit top talent, setting corporate and product strategies, and raising capital in preparation for rapid growth.
Mr. Chang received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University, his M.S. degree in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and an Executive MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
